GINGERCAKE'S BLOG
Tear first, ask questions later

I adore certain flavors and foods such that, when I see them starring in a recipe in a magazine or on a website, I immediately mark them as a Must-Make and rip out or print right away, no questions asked. Why waste time skimming its fellow ingredients or checking the preparation time?
Pumpkin? Lemon? Ginger? Cinnamon? If you're in there, I want you.
For a while.
Unfortunately for some of those recipe rip-outs, I often don't strike when the iron is hot. And if that's the case, months, years, and now even decades (yipes!) can pass before I either try them or, more likely, lay eyes on them again.
Some that I rediscover turn out to be real prima donnas, more trouble than they're worth, even if cinnamon sticks beckon.
Others turn out to be real frauds, eliciting from me a wrinkle-nosed "What-was-I-thinking?!"
Still others, ever patient, get thoughts of "Maybe this weekend," followed by a sigh.
Lucky for the cup of tea I'm drinking, I have a mild cold today. The cold began sneaking up on me yesterday, around the time I clipped a Better Homes and Gardens recipe for fresh ginger tea with lemon.
It's delicious.
