I Haz Root Beer Nao

Yes, I know everyone's really excited about my root beer adventures and can't wait for the next chapter. ;) But, for the sake of completeness: I now have two quarts of original recipe homemade root beer. It's ... not what I expected. It smells like root beer, and has a strong root beer aftertaste, but while it's in the mouth? Mildly citrus. ::squints at recipe:: It did call for some lime juice; I wonder if I overdid it? I doubt it. I was very scrupulous. So we'll see if it grows on me. There's nothing wrong with the taste, it's just not what I expected. My first taste of the ginger ale left me uninterested, too, and now I think it's the bees' knees. Did I mention I made Russian kvass from this recipe book, too? That was the Nectar Of The Gods, I kid you not. But it took a month to brew and my patience isn't too good. Still I may try it again. The ingredients were not difficult, unlike the root beer.
