English High Tea

Today was my first time going to tea. I was invited by a lady whose little girl I watch on Tuesdays. This was a fundraiser for "Caring For Women Pregnancy Resource Center". The location where it was held was all decorated and the china used was lent by various people. I heard that there were over 400 people in attendence! We started out with Earl Grey tea and an assortment of scones (lemon cranberry, gingerbread & Earl Grey tea scones). With this we had the option of jam (a berry of some kind), Devonshire cream and lemon curd - which was divine!!! After that we had tea sandwiches (caramelized onion & spinach quiche, cucumber with habanera chutney, turkey & avacado pinwheels & chicken salad with gorgonzola butter - which I thought was the best!). We then watched a little skit and listened to 2 speakers - since this is a fund raiser after all!. Then followed dessert. Yummo! There were almond horns, lemon curd mousse tartlet and a mint chocolate wedge - which was very rich. Each person also got a chocolate dipped shortbread heart as a favor - it included the recipe, which I'll have to post. All in all it was a fun experience and for a good cause. Great food too!!!
