Floating Away

It's been raining again all morning, yesterday and all night long. The name of the apartment complex that I live in is "Parkside on the Creek". Bear Creek has a long way to go up the hill to get me, but 2 Sundays ago when I was down in the park running, it was the highest I had ever seen it. My father must cross the same creek coming out of DFW airport on his way home from work(parents live about 3 miles west of me). He is concerned that the road will be impassable by this evening. It was closed part of last week. Pictures of DFW storms yesterday The 1 1/2 years I worked as a loan officer for the SBA Disaster Assistance makes me wary of flooding. I do not have flood insurance as I am not in a SFHA but the fence on the park side of the property is the boundary between a safe X and a Flood Zone A. I have seen first hand what can happen to people who loose everything to flood/hurricane and don't have insurance. Worse still are the people who were told they did not need it, as they weren't in a flood zone (New Orleans). So far I have been lucky, but there are families all over North and Central Texas without homes today and last week. After what I have seen on the Gulf Coast with the Florida Hurricanes and Katrina, not to mention the tornados on the plains and the trailer park in Haltom City last week...You could not PAY ME to live in a manufactured home!! They should be outlawed. I made Cumin Dusted Chicken with Guacamole Sauce last night, along with Corn and Black Bean Salsa and salad for sides. Chicken Recipe Not sure what is on the menu for next week, though I did see that Kroger had ground lamb, which they never have. Would like to make Kibbeh or something, but I can see me planning for it and then they would not be selling it this weekend.
